Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law, including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's need.
